Breast augmentation remains one of the most frequently requested cosmetic surgeries available today. At Nease Cosmetic Surgery, we’re proud to offer breast enlargements to patients in Scottsboro, Ft. Payne, and Huntsville, including the nearby areas in northern Alabama.
What is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation refers to the surgical procedure done to enlarge the size of a woman’s breasts. Augmentation may also be used to shape and contour the fullness of the breast.
The procedure is typically performed by placing either silicone or saline breast implants beneath the chest muscles or the breast tissue. Most breast augmentation procedures involve general anesthesia and can be conducted as an outpatient surgery.
How Much Does Breast Augmentation Cost in North Alabama and Huntsville area?
The general price range for breast augmentation at Nease Cosmetic Surgery is $4,500 to $6,000. If the surgery involves the removal and replacement of currently existing implants, the cost rises a bit and ranges from $5,000 to $7,000. What Are the Benefits of Breast Augmentation?
As one of the most requested cosmetic surgeries in this country, breast augmentation brings significant, highly valued benefits, and most women are thoroughly delighted with the results of their breast augmentation surgery. Some of the most commonly mentioned benefits include:
- A fuller, more attractive silhouette
- Significant increase in self-confidence
- Drastically improved self-image and self-esteem
- Perky, more youthful appearance
- Better fitting clothes
What Are Breast Implants?
Breast implants are flexible, silicone sacs of varying sizes and shapes. They’re either filled with saline (sterile salt water) or a synthetic material called silicone gel. Some implants come pre-filled, while others are filled during the actual breast augmentation operation. At Nease Cosmetic Surgery, we use both saline and silicone implants for our patients.
What is Breast Implant Removal?
Breast implant removal is a surgical procedure performed to remove one or both breast implants from a previous breast reconstruction or augmentation surgery. Scar tissue that forms in the breast when an implant is placed usually remains soft. In those cases, there’s no need for implant removal.
In some cases, the scar tissue hardens and can cause considerable pain and discomfort. In these cases, the implant needs to be removed and, if desired, replaced.
Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?
If you’re unhappy with the size, shape or symmetry of your breasts and you’re a healthy adult with realistic expectations about what is possible, chances are you’re a good candidate for breast augmentation. The breasts should be fully developed and you should not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
What is Breast Augmentation Recovery Like?
During the recovery period, your breasts will be wrapped with an elastic bandage or a support bra to minimize the swelling and help support your breasts during the healing process.
You’ll need to take it easy the first few days, and only increase your activity level according to the doctor’s instructions. You’ll probably have some pain for the first few days, and will likely have prescriptions for both pain medications and antibiotics to prevent any infection.
Swelling and soreness may continue for several weeks following your breast augmentation surgery. For best recovery results, read and closely follow the post-op instructions your plastic surgeon will give you before you leave.
