Rhinoplasty, often called a “nose job,” is one of the most frequently requested facial surgery procedures. Sometimes performed for strictly cosmetic reasons, there are often other, more functional reasons people seek out rhinoplasty. Nease Cosmetic Surgery offers rhinoplasty to men and women in Scottsboro, Ft. Payne, Huntsville, and the surrounding areas of north Alabama.
What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty involves changing the size and/or shape of the nose, either for cosmetic reasons or because there are medical issues that need to be addressed.
Sometimes certain birth defects or trauma can cause difficulty breathing. Rhinoplasty can alleviate the difficulty, allowing for ease of breathing.
Cosmetically, rhinoplasty can be used to reduce the size of the nose, bringing it into better proportion with the rest of the facial features.
How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost in North Alabama and Huntsville area?
The average cost of rhinoplasty at Nease Cosmetic Surgery is usually between $5,000-$8,000. Rhinoplasty surgery will vary from patient to patient, and your total cost will be discussed in detail during your initial consultation. The doctor will help you decide which options will provide the best results for your desired goals and be able to give you an exact price for the procedure.
Sometimes, insurance will cover the cost of some rhinoplasty procedures, depending on the reason they’re being performed—but you’ll want to check with your insurance company to be sure. We accept cash, check, or credit cards and also offer financing options for our patients.
What Are the Benefits of Rhinoplasty?
Benefits of rhinoplasty often include physical, mental and emotional benefits, depending on the reason for the surgery. Most patients are very excited about their natural-looking results and some of the most common benefits include:
- Enhanced appearance
- Improved breathing and fewer sinus issues
- Increased self-confidence
- Improved facial balance and symmetry
- Reduced snoring
Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?
If you’re healthy and over the age of about 14 or 15 years, chances are you’ll be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. It’s important that your facial skeleton has matured before you undergo rhinoplasty. This is usually around 14-15 years old for girls and about 15 for boys.
What is Revision Rhinoplasty?
Revision rhinoplasty, sometimes referred to as secondary rhinoplasty, is the term applied when a patient has had a previous rhinoplasty that didn’t resolve their issues, either cosmetically or functionally.
Revision rhinoplasty is often an even more complex operation than the original surgery. Rhinoplasty specialists, like Dr. Nease, typically have the most experience with revision rhinoplasty and are considered best able to perform the necessary corrections.
What is Rhinoplasty Recovery Like?
Most of the time, recovery following rhinoplasty is relatively short. Most patients will have to wear a nasal splint for about a week or so. There will be some swelling in the face and possible bruising that usually begins to look and feel better after about three days.
Total and complete healing can take up to six months, which is when the final results of your “new nose” will be most evident.
Your doctor will give you specific post-op instructions, but generally speaking, strenuous activity should be avoided for about three to six weeks following the surgery. You should be able to return to your normal activities as early as two to three weeks.
